The aim of the project was to facilitate the accessibility of educational institutions to children with disabilities by promoting the efficient implementation of the accessibility standards for construction defined in the decree by the RA Minister of Urban Development.
The project has been carried out within the framework of the program "Promoting Transparency and Accountability through Advanced Civil Society Participation" being conducted by the “Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center” NGO and financed by USAID.
Within the framework of the project, citizens with disabilities studied the compliance of 20 general educational institutions built or remodeled after 2007 in the cities of Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor, comparing them to the accessibility standards for construction specified in the decree issued by the RA Minister of Urban Development.
Within the framework of the project, a simplified illustrative handbook on accessibility of general education schools has been created and is also a monitoring tool for persons with disabilities.
