Social Media for Inclusion

The aim of the project, conducted in cooperation with UNICEF Armenia, was to raise awareness among society on the importance of inclusion of all children, to provide journalists with long-term digital learning opportunities required for refreshing their knowledge on disabilities, to expand the potential of all journalists and to promote positive attitudes towards children with disabilities.

Within the framework of the project, the blog “Bolorak” was created. It is the first Armenian blog of, by and for parents of children with disabilities.

On the blog Parents.disabilityinfo.am, articles and success stories, as well as various multimedia materials, posts and useful links on inclusive education were posted.

12 films were shot about children with disabilities and their parents and families. The films are about the experiences of children and young people with disabilities and were screened at the Moscow Cinema in Yerevan.

In addition, 12 videos were shot on the human rights-based model of disability. In these videos, specialists from various fields present some issues related to the rights of persons with disabilities.

In cooperation with the RA National Institute of Education and inclusive schools, 6 videos were produced for teachers to help them learn about and get acquainted with the principles and methods of inclusive education. The video clips were published on the www.disabilityinfo.am website.

On the basis of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the UN Convention on the Rights of Children, monitoring was conducted in schools, other educational institutions and public places. 40 photo reports and articles based on the accessibility monitoring were published on the www.disabilityinfo.am website.

An essay contest was held for pupils on the topics “My Inclusive School” and “Behind the Same Desk” with the announcement sent to all schools in Armenia. 93 essays were presented from more than 20 towns and villages.
